Gale Databases & the VPN

There's a very odd conflict between Gale databases (Contemporary Authors, OneFile,
Eighteenth Century Collections Online, BGMI, etc.) and the VPN.

If you access one Gale database while logged into the VPN, you have no problems. However, if you try to log into another Gale database, you get this error:

Server Error
This server has encountered an internal error which prevents it from fulfilling your request. The most likely cause is a misconfiguration.
Please ask the administrator to look for messages in the server's error log.

The fix is relatively simple: log out of the VPN, log in again, and try to access another Gale database.

We've reproduced it repeatedly on our computers and have alerted the folks at Gale about it. So far they haven't been able to fix the problem. kbdb
