FW: Oxford African American Studies Center has been Updated!

I’m pleased to announce that the May update to the Oxford African American Studies Center is now available.

600 NEW BIOGRAPHIES AND A LOOK AT BLACK BRITISH HISTORY
We are excited to present an additional 600 biographies from the African American National Biography . May's biographies include nineteenth-century inventor Sarah E. Goode, entertainer Grace Jones, Vivian Malone, the first African American to graduate from the University of Alabama, and more. In addition, we have added over 400 articles from the acclaimed Oxford Companion to Black British History, the first-ever reference work to explore the story of Britain's black population over the span of nearly 2,000 years.

NEW MULTIMEDIA CONTENT
As part of our ongoing update program, this month the Oxford African American Studies Center sees the addition of another 30 multimedia clips, including Colin Powell speaking on changes in the military, historical footage of civil rights protests in Birmingham, Alabama, a United Negro College Fund TV Ad, and more.

FEATURE OF THE MONTH
Each month the editors of the Oxford African American Studies Center provide insights into topics of current and historical relevance. This month's feature focuses on African American contributions to the First World War. In addition to a photo essay and featured commentary, the editors have also provided a list of articles to guide readers who want to learn more. Read this month's feature.
