NetLibrary, Classguides and EZproxy

Hi, There is a trick you need to know to make a direct link to a
NetLibrary title. Do not use the URL you see when you connect to the
e-book (http://www.netlibrary.com/Details.aspx). That URL is the same
for all titles and is not a persistent link. Instead, use 1 of these 2
methods:

1. Point directly to the Homer record using these instructions:
http://wiki.lib.uconn.edu/index.php/HOMERKB:_BibID_Linking

OR

2. Find the persistent URL
a. Find the title in Homer. Example: A History of Haiti
b. Do a "View, Source" in your browser.
c. Search for www.netlibrary.com in the HTML source.
d. This will take you to the correct URL:
http://ezproxy.lib.uconn.edu/login?url=http://www.netLibrary.com/urlapi.asp?action=summary&v=1&bookid=218316

Note that NetLibrary is now proxied in Homer, so the URL above has the proxy prefix automatically added. So, when you add the link in classguides, check the "Add proxy URL to the front of this link" and leave off the proxy prefix: http://www.netLibrary.com/urlapi.asp?action=summary&v=1&bookid=218316

Hi Nicholas et al.,

There is an easier way to get the persistent url for NetLibrary (or any other Homer eresource) than viewing the source code for the page. Find the item, click on staff view and look in the 856 field. Kudos to Nancy Martin for showing me this.
